Culture

We use culture to strengthen the Ostrobothnian identity and to create an environment that encourages creativity and innovations. We also want to create an ambience that promotes genuine co-operation between cultures and languages.

All cultural issues regarding the Finnish speaking population of the region are managed by the Regional Council. The cultural matters of the Swedish speaking population of the region are managed by KulturÖsterbotten, a cultural division of the SÖFUK Federation of Swedish Municipalities in Ostrobothnia for Education and Culture, www.kulturosterbotten.fi.

The Cultural Committee of the Regional Council co-operates closely with the member municipalities, KulturÖsterbotten, the Regional Art Council of Ostrobothnia as well as with a number of cultural institutions and organisations.
